Productinformatie

Discover the fascinating world of palms through the extraordinary botanical legacy of Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius. His groundbreaking Natural History of Palms, originally published in three volumes between 1823 and 1853, was inspired by extensive expeditions through Brazil and Peru and helped establish the foundations of modern palm classification.

The book presents a rich selection of the 240 detailed chromolithographic illustrations that made the original work so remarkable. Botanical studies and cross-sectional diagrams revealing the impressive architecture of palms are complemented by beautiful landscapes depicting these majestic trees in their natural surroundings. The result is a captivating combination of scientific precision, a spirit of discovery, and artistic beauty.

Part of TASCHEN’s 40 series, this edition brings one of the publisher’s celebrated titles to a more compact format while retaining its exceptional production quality. An inspiring volume for lovers of botany, natural history, and classic scientific illustration.
